Creating the Extraordinary Student Experience

Become a Facilitator

Want to be a facilitator for the Open Doors Program?

Are you an Open Doors partner who is interested in doing more with the Open Doors program? Do you believe in the Open Doors program’s mission to foster a visible community of allies that provides unqualified acceptance and assistance to those who have experienced or witnessed bias? Have you ever wanted to learn and practice how to facilitate difficult conversations on diversity, difference, and cross-cultural interactions? If your answer to these questions is a resounding “Yes!” then we would like you to consider becoming an Open Doors Facilitator.

Open Doors Facilitators are individuals who have chosen to go above and beyond being allies within their communities and have committed to sharing the mission of Open Doors—that we are all members of one university committed to eminence in embracing diversity and inclusion—by training others to be Open Doors Partners.

Open Doors Facilitators go through an intensive 9-hour training day that is then followed up by multi-part, multi-day shadowing and co-facilitation apprenticeship to become certified Open Doors Facilitators. After the 17-hour training program, facilitators commit to conducting up to two, four-hour workshops a semester and receive ongoing coaching on their facilitation skills. They are also given access to additional materials to help them hone their global as well as diversity-focused facilitation skills.

Becoming an Open Doors Facilitator is a great way to provide a vital service to the Buckeye Community, connect to a network of highly skilled and talented people committed to social justice work, and add a valuable and competitive skill set to resume/curriculum vitae.

Want to take part in becoming a facilitator? Sign up for our Train the Trainer (TTT), Workshop Notification at Subj: “Atten: Request to be an OD Facilitator.” We’ll put you in our notification cue and let you know when our next training will be held. We hold a TTT each semester.

We can’t wait to work with you as you take this next step in Open Doors by becoming a program facilitator.
